Blue
Family of David Edwards and Thursa Edwards

Today, we honor the amazing memory of Blue. Blue was so special that he blessed two families with love and companionship in his 11 years before he gained his wings in February.

Blue was so loved by his original parents, but due to his own health issues and changes in living arrangements, on January 31, 2022, a call for help went out to the AWS Family. Blue's owner knew that the AWS Family was the right place to turn, and he was right. An amazing group of people came together and accepted the challenge. Blue, and his partner in crime, Molly (Mommie), found their new family in early February '22. They made their way from SC to IL where the Edwards family welcomed two new senior additions to their pack.

And then there were three. Blue was outnumbered by his furry sisters, but he did not let this bother him. He quickly established lap time with mom and dad. Blue was also part of the “drop something, anything” trio, the 5 second rule doesn’t exist when you have three AWS’s, because nothing ever hits the floor.

In September, Blue started to show signs that something wasn’t quite right and his hind legs were not cooperating. His amazing parents began the investigative work and were the Blue’s champions through it all.

In October 2022, Blue was diagnosed with DM. Once again, David and Thursa knew that Blue had the will, so they were going to find a way for Blue to live his life to the fullest. With that will, and that belief, Blue got a new set of wheels.

News of Blue’s wheels quickly spread, and NASCAR contacted him to join the circuit. However, after a few times around the track, it was determined that Blue had an unfair advantage as the windshields of the other cars behind him became covered in puppy drool making it impossible for the drivers to see and their cars air intakes were blocked with brown fuzzy fur causing massive engine damage.

While a courageous battle was fought by Blue and his family against an unforgiving diagnosis, at the end of February 2023, Blue crossed the rainbow bridge. His AWS pack was there to greet him, show him around and introduced him to the best fields to run in. Run free sweet boy, keep watch over both of your families that were so blessed to have given and received love. What a blessing you were. David and Thursa, you are in our thoughts, thank you for giving this sweet boy the year that you gave him. Boy Blue, your wings were ready, but your family’s hearts were not.
