Remove or not to Remove.
It’s a huge decision that needs to be made within a puppies first few days of life. What are the pro’s the con’s of each. Should the decision be based on the future lifestyle of the puppy in question. How should the caregiver of these pups base their decision? On the wishes of the new owners, or the knowledge of one’s personal experience?
Should the decision be decided with consideration of the dog’s future lifestyle. Will they be hunting in icy waters and ponds. Will they be making hard, dynamic mvmts for their sport/lifestyle, will they be running up/down carpeted stairs, will they be climbing into/out of grate like steps that can snag dewclaws and rip them off? Will the new owners be able to keep up with the maintenance of clipping the claws?
