Grooming for Conformation
Getting pretty is a serious thing when it comes to conformation. There is not “One way fits all” protocol. Owners tend to groom their dogs to highlight their best features, and hide the imperfections. One thing is for sure, grooming plays an important part prior to entering the show ring. Each dog is carefully brushed, blow-dried, and primped to look their best. A great place to see top notch dogs do their things with style.
Everyone should know and become comfortable with the basic grooming needs and tools for their breed. Some of these tools are specifically for the AWS, and are important to use for the health and well-being of your AWS
In addition to the basic brushing, toe clipping, teeth and ear cleaning, you have two additional and very different types of grooming: Conformation grooming allows for brushed out ears, tails, and fringe on arms and legs.
Field cuts are aimed to prevent the dog from over heating and to minimize burrs collecting on their ears, chest, legs and tail when running through thick brush.
